    Septic tank question
If you were going to put in a new septic tank, would you go with the aerobic type which uses an aerator pump and chlorine pellets, or with the traditional tank which uses a field line?

I installed an "Infiltrator" system as required by the county where I live since my line is 50 ft. from a trout stream. 1500 Gal tank and Infiltrator has been perfect. Aerator and chlorine is a Modad?

Hi jlisenbe, If the ground would allow, I would use the traditional tank and field lines, cheaper and quieter, that steady hum on the aerator pumps drives me crazy. Good luck and post back what you decide.

I say it all depends upon the situation and the cost. In Ma064 case a drain field next to a trout stream would not be healthy for the fish. If I had a choice I would install a traditional septic tank and drain field. Good luck, Tom

When you having us over for a fish dinner? Lol

Both work fine, is there a reason, that a regular system would not be correct for your area.

Thanks for all the answers. Our current drain field is about fifty years old. I am noticing a lot of wet ground just outside where the line exits the tank and goes to the drain field, so I am assuming the field line is blocked. Our back yard is more hill than level, sot the aerated tank seems like a good option rather than having to tear up the back yard to put in a new drain field. Haven't had a pro in yet. Will do that over the next couple of weeks. Know of one guy who says he can do the job for 2500.
