My roommates refused to pay rent... I got evicted
I am on permanent disability from a head injury which left me with nacoleptic and seizure symptoms. I had 2 roommates that were married (she on the lease he is not.) They have been hiding my mail, stealing money out of my bank account This month they hid the pay or quit notice received on the 5th of the month and yesterday we received a 24 hr notice. They did not tell me about either notice. Now I'm evicted I could catch up with rent within 2mo. Is there anything I can do to save my apartment?? And or keep this eviction off my record This is only a short list of things that gets longer and much worse. I have asked them to leave for months with no force I am starting to feel my episodes coming on again... I haven't felt this way for 2 1/2 years but the stress is bringing them on again Any good advice is always appreciated. I know about

Actually no, you are not evicted yet. (unless you have already moved)

They will have to file in court, and there has to be a court hearing.

Have you went to the landlord and talked to them, paid them what you could and worked out arrangements to pay the rest.

And you can not evict someone else who is on the lease, that is your problem to deal with, till the lease is over. But if they are stealing, you call the police and report them.

You have your mail sent to a PO box where they can not get it. There are many things you could have done. You chose to do nothing, till it got bad.

If they do not pay their part of rent, you will have to pay all of it, and sue them for their share of rent.

First, any question on law needs to include your general locale as laws vary by area. Second, Let me see if I have the facts straight. There are three people living in the unit, you and a married couple. Only the husband is on the lease, but are YOU on the lease?

If a pay or quit notice was issued on the 5th, it is possible that the 24 hour notice you received yesterday was from the court. If it was, the eviction is already on your record. If it wasn't, then someone still has to go to court to physically remove you. If I were you I would check here ADA.gov homepage and contact a local office for help.

Also you claim they stole from your bank account. Do you have proof of that? If so, call the police on them.

Please post back with answers so we can help further.
