SSI is my only income - $637 per month. The California FTB put an Order to Withhold on my account and froze my funds. I was told I had to fax them an Installment Agreement Form 3567 in order to remove the hold and stop them from taking the $300 I have in my account, so I did. Since the can't garnish my SSI payments, can they force me to make payments on back taxes of $800? Thank you.

Given your income level, there must be an appeal process to have them release the hold on your account and have forgive the taxes owed, since your income level is WELL below the poverty level.

I suggest you contact the FTB and ask about that.
