Getting an ex boy friend out who pays rent but won't leave
I live in MD and I was dating this guy and he showed up one day with his clothes and moved in... OK we are no longer a couple as far as I'm concerned. I have asked him to leave but he will not he says "I pay rent you can't kick me out"
How the He_ _ do I get him out!!
    HELP!

WHo's names are on the lease?

That's important to determine if you have standing to even have him evicted. If you do have a lease in your name or own the property (and he doesn't)... you have to have him served and follow the legal process to evict like any tenant. Which he is if he's been there more than a few weeks.

Well, you have a bit of a problem. He pays the rent. The LL will probably side with him because of that. I'm not sure you can have him evicted. Maybe you should consider leaving at lease renewal time.

He's partially right. You can't kick him out. But you can legally evict him. Based on what you said, he moved in to YOUR place. Whether you own or rent you became his landlord and he your tenant. So he is entitled to the rights of any tenant. I'm assuming he never signed a written lease with you. This means he is a month to month tenant. So you need to give him written notice to vacate a least one month before rent is due. If he does not leave by the deadline, then you need to go to court to obtain an eviction order. The process is described here: Maryland Attorney General - Consumer Publications
