    Spider Bite?
I have what I think may be a spider bite on the inside of my leg. Yesterday evening I noticed that my upper leg hurt so I lifted my pant leg. I have what looks like a large zit with a black dot in the middle. It's very painful and feels hard like a peanut M & M. It's itchy at times. The main part of the redness is about the size of a nickel, but there is a lighter ring of red that is about the size of a fist which is sensitive and hot to the touch. There is no puss or blistering. I have another one that I got a few weeks ago that was kind of similar but it looked more bruised than red. That one is no longer painful but it's still hard like a peanut M & M with the black dot in the middle.

I currently live in an apartment that is part of a 100+ year old house and we've been having several problems with spiders and bugs recently. I'm just assuming it's a spider bite from when I was sleeping.

I hate to think of myself as a hypercondriac, but I kind of am. I've been watching it to see if anything changes. I figure I could go to the doctor tomorrow for some peace of mind. I tried self diagnosising myself on the internet, but all that did was make me freak out even more. I'm just waiting for my flesh to start eating itself. LoL

It does sound like a spider bite and I'd keep that appointment with the doctor. Spider bites can get infected, usually do as a result of the venom. They can become abcessed and go septic.

Yes, most certainly keep that appt with the doc. I don't know where you live, but do you have any brown recluse spiders in your area?

If so, get to that doc as soon as possible.

Thanks for the advice. I wasn't sure if I was overreacting by going to the doctors. I live in Michigan and I know that I am not in the region for the brown recluse spider, but you never know. I have seen a couple of different spiders around the apartment lately that are not your common house spider. We also have a problem with carpet bettles that I have been finding the larvae everywhere, including my bed. I've also seen large light brown ants coming through the floor boards of the hard woods. So who knows what could be the culprit? Sounds like the doc will be in my best interest. :)

Ah, but there are brown recluses in Michigan, that is where I got bit the first time. In Grand Rapids. They are not quite as prevalent up there, but they are there. However, it is not yet the right time of year for the recluse for you yet.

But, better safe than sorry. Get into the doc to have it checked out.
