    Hair folical drug test results
My hair drug test showed positive for weed. Its metabolite was 0.6, is that a high amount?

It's high enough to be a positive result. What do you stand to lose?

When it comes to issues such as this, it's positive or negative. Period. It doesn't matter what the particular reading is, just whether or not it is positive.

I agree with J9, the test was to determine IF you had smoked weed, not how much weed you smoked.

Pretty much. Why were they screening you for drugs though? Probation? Social services? Child protective services?

Life is full of decisions. The results of those decisions can be harsh. You made the decision to smoke weed and to a point where it showed up as habitual use. The long term ramifications of that decision is that your child will be taken away. It is sad, but you kind of brought it on yourself.

Possibly. I'm sure they are making you jump through hoops. Have you been to parenting classes? Regular drug tests?

You really don't give us enough information to help you. Can you please tell us more?

His dad has never been a part of his life. I gave my mom custody, but they done the hair test on me. His attorney wanted it done. So actually my mom is going to loose custody of something I done.? I don't see how that's right

Now the dad don't want to pay child support so he wants full custody. My son is 11 and does not want to live with his dad. Hes already exspressed.this to the judge.

This really makes no sense. Why would your mother lose custody if she has custody and you don't but you are the one testing positive?

Is the father fighting for custody? How long has this custody battle been going on?

Whose attorney? The father's? Your son's?

If your mother has custody, are you still living with her as well as your son?

I'm sorry for all of the questions, but in order to help you properly we need a clear and concise picture of everything that is going on.

So, this has been going on for at least two years and you thought it was okay to continue to smoke dope and live in the same house as the child in question?

While the judge may take your son's wishes into consideration when it comes to custody, it is important that the child be placed in a home that is drug free and stable.

Unfortunately you have known for at least 2 years (yes I did repeat myself) that the father has been fighting for custody, yet you did nothing to improve yourself.

As a mother, albeit a non-custodial mother, who resides in the same household of said child in question, you should have been more proactive in achieving sobriety for the sake of your child. However, you chose to stay stoned not caring the outcome.

As was said earlier, the court doesn't care that the "metabolite was 0.6" they care whether it was positive or negative. You were positive. In essence, the court will look at it as if you cared more about the joint than the child.

Actually, you are losing your child for something you have done since 2009. Choices come with consequences.

A hair drug test is meant to show consistent use over time. A 1.5 inch sample of hair cut at the scalp line will go back 90 days. When it comes to THC in a hair drug test here is what we put on the result page - "Qualitative - amount does not correlate to usage" - so what that means is that you cannot make a correlation between the amount taken in and the amount shown on the result page. It is the only drug that you cannot make that distinction. For example if a cocaine results said 2453 pg/mg that would mean approximately cocaine was used daily/weekends. The amount of .6 pg/mg is not much. I would guess if you did not do anymore marijuana you will be negative in the next 90 day hair drug test.
