My results said negative but no reference range

A qualitative test just gives positive or negative results. A quantitative test will give you a hcg level. A blood test can be accurate about 10 days or so after ovulation. If the test was done fairly early, and pregnancy is still thought to be a possibility, you can always ask for another for confirmation.
