    Bare wire
If Im taking a light switch out ,I only need to wrap the bare wire with electrical tape and shove them back in the wall?

Your best option is to eliminate the circut from the junction box. Otherwise if you can't then either cut the wires short before taping it over or if you want to save it for future use then get some wire nuts and put those over the bare ends before taping off.

Why are you removing the switch?
Bottom line is no, you need more than just tape. Use wire nuts to cap off wires, and forget the tape.

I agree... the adheasive turns to goo on electrical tape or just dries up after a few years at it will unravel and detatch (much sooner with off brand cheap tape) then you have a dangerous condition. Wire nuts don't suffer from this problem

I believe it is against the NEC to just wire nut or tape up a live wire and stick it back in the wall.

I think it is allowed so long as it is within a box covered by a dummy plate . It would be wrong to just leave it hang inside a wall if it is live no matter what you do with it.

CDAD-I agree with your post, not just sticking it in the wall.

I missed that part when I answered... as was mentioned keep it in the box... don't shove it out of the box and into the wall.
