Why has he not done anything about this earlier ? Your question, although you don't appear to have one, is what is causing this. We can't tell you that, mainly because he do not diagnose on this site. We do not know is medical history, or his medications as his doctor would. Suggest he not suffer any longer and go to a doctor to have these symptoms properly diagnosed.

Has he been to a doctor about this yet? What did they say? If he hasn't , then why hasn't he gone?

A knot (I'm assuming you're talking about an actual lump) in his side, he can't eat without getting sick, and no doctor he's seen (I'm assuming he has seen a doctor, because who wouldn't after a year of this?) has done anything about it?

Have they biopsied the lump? Have they done any tests at all?

We can't diagnose online. If he's not getting answers or help from the doctors he's seeing, it's time to find new doctors.

    How old is he?
