Can I keep my GA vehicle registered there even though I have a NY license?
I lived 12 months out of the year in my GA home, which is where I have my vehicles registered. I also have a GA drivers license. I will be spending the majority of my time in the coming years. The vehicles will remain in GA idle most of the time, only to be used when I return for work.

It appears that I may need to get a NY drivers license because of the amount
Of time I will be spending there. Can I keep the vehicles registered there and insured for the state of GA since that is the only place they will be used?

Sure, you can keep the vehicles registered in Georgia.

I'm not sure you really need a New York drivers license, if your residence remains Georgia. But you didn't ask that question, so I will leave it at that.

This is important... you say you live in GA 12 months a year but you work in NY. Logistically that's impossible unless you are a commercial airline pilot on one of the NY routes.

How much time do you spend in NY at a stretch? I know if you have a vehicle parked in the state of VA for 30 days... it needs to be registered here, and the State of Maryland legally requires you to get a License there if you are staying there and working there more than a few weeks (yes, had that discussion in court in front of a judge before). NY will have its own requirements based on how miuch time you actually spend in the state, and sleep there.

Just to clarify - if the vehicle remains in GA it should continue to be registered in GA even if you get a NY driving license and turn in your old GA license. This is precisley what many people with two homes in different states do.

If your main residence is Georgia, and your vechiles remain primarily in Georgia, then they are to be registered there.

If you are working out of state, but retain residence in Georgia, what car will you be driving in NY ( any ?)

Even if the OP's main residence is not GA - as long as the vehicles are principally kept in GA they should be registered in GA.
