I am married to a man that has custody, joint managing conservertorship, of his daughter. She lives with us. I have raised her since she was 1. I was talking to her biological mother on the phone and she had agreed to terminate her parental rights and let me legally adopt her daughter, wich I call my daughter(she thinks I'm mommy) as long as her father which is the child's grandfather can still see her . Also she would want to not pay chilsd support anymore. If she religished her rights and I adopted her could I have it where her grandfather could see her, legally. I want to know how I go about filing the paperwork myself without an attorney, we spent 5k on layers with the custoday battle we had. Please help me before she changes her mind, also Im in the state of Texas.

Well, I Have A Similar Story I Have A 6 Year Old Son (he Will Be 6 In August) His "donor" Signed Over Every Right He Could Possibly Ever Have When My Son Was 9 Months Old, After That His Mother Came And Seen My Son About 3 Times After That. I Had No Problem With Her Coming Over Even Though Her Son Signed Over All Of His Rights. He Has Not Contacted Me Or My Son And That's Fine, My Son Is Better Off He Has People In His Life Who Love Him. I Mean Im A Single Mom Just Because I Can't Find A Decent Man That I Can Trust, But That's A Whole Different Story. I Live In Pennsylvania And That's How It Is Here. My Advice Is It Seems Like You Have Been The Mother In This Child's Life, If The "donor" Wants To Sign Over Rights And Is Not A Good Influence To Be In This Child's Life Then Jump On The Chance To Get The Custody, I Wish There Were More People Like You Who Take The Role. Yes you can do that, merely have an attorney write it all up, and you would be granting the grandparents rights to visit, should be no problem at all.

Agree to visitation but because you ask for it. They will not run it for you. You will prob have to set it up alone where they see her at some point. But if they run off with her there won't be much you can really do if you let her go with them. I would suggest supervised visitation... maybe the park where she is not out of sight...
