Hi,

I'm having some trouble with the cold tap on my mixer tap in my kitchen.

When I turn on the hot, it runs very hot, and the cold tap stops working for 5 minutes. The problem has gotten worse- to the point where there is now no cold water coming out. When I leave it for a while, the cold comes back again.

The flat is in a block with a communal boiler. Could this be the problem?

Sounds like you've disturb some minerals built up in the pipe walls that is now blocking the inlet ports are your faucets cartridge. The solution would be to shut the water off to the tap, open it up, and remove the cartridge. Check a clean the inlet ports. Before you reassemble turn the water on for a moment to flush out the supplies. Reassemble and test. Good luck, Tom
