I live in Ct. I have a warrant in Fl. I need a state ID.
I live in Connecticut and found out I have a warrant in Florida. Will they arrest me if I go in to get A Connecticut state ID? I have read many posts on this from other states and with a lot of different answers. Does anyone know for sure what will happen? I plan on taking care of the warrant as soon as I can get back down to Florida. One of the problems is I can't even get a plane ticket, Rent a car or just about anything without a state ID. I have already been arrested and held once. Florida didn't come to get me after being held in jail for 90 days. The court told me the warrant would still be in the system and I could be arrested over and over again as long as the warrant is not taken care of. Anyway I really need to get a state ID. Can anyone tell me what will happen for a fact? Thank you

There is not one answer, normally the police will be notified and they may check with FL. It is correct the warrant is still active. It normally depends on the level of the charge

Thank you, FYI Its for probation violation. I have seen answers from people claiming to work for the DMV and say no and others that say there spouse work for them and "yes they will arrest me. I'm not running from the charges. I know until I get down to Florida, I will set in jail for 90 days if I get arrested and then Florida will not end up coming up to get me. I just want to make this statement about judgmental people. There are a lot of people out there that place answers judging others without knowing there story and I'm sure I will get the same thing but I'm okay with that because I know one day karma will get them and may even place them in the same situation. Anyway I just needed to put all of that out there. Thank you again for your opinion.

The last time you were arrested, do you have proof that FL declined to extradite you? If not, I would try to obtain that proof. Then, if you are threatened with arrest again, you produce that proof.

Once you get the proof you go for your ID and show that proof to get your card.

Also, why do you think you need to be in FL to clear this up? Have you contacted the Florida court that issued the warrant and ask what is necessary to clear it?

I called the probation office there in Florida. The officer told me that I would need to come there and turn myself in. I have not tried contacting the court. I will try that just in case. The Connecticut court was who told me the warrant would never go away when they realest me after the 90 days. See Florida says they want me and the claim they will come but then not show up. As much as that is wrong of them to do. They can do it as many times I get arrested. SO they are not refusing to extradite they just don't show up. Thank you for your input. I will try and get through to the court in Florida.

Yes, the warrant will not go away. So you were held for 90 days then released because no one from FL showed up to get you? Can you get a copy of the release order that states that?

The fact that you were arrested and Fla. did nothing goes to show it is not really important to them. Also like was said, you need the written proof of your 90 days In jail, for that warrant. You are right Fla. Is lazy. Maybe they like to have a file stuffed full of old warrants never likely to be served.

This has happened twice. The first time they held me for 90 days the second time they gave me a PTA. The thing is no matter how many times my name is ran I will go to jail even if its just for the night. I had the States Attorney involved and there nothing they can do as long as Florida says there willing to come they have to change me as a fugitive from justice. Like I said I have been through it but I moved to another part of the state where the police do not know me so I just don't want to take any chances if I don't need to. Unfortunately I need a state ID. I will take all my paperwork with me just in case whoever does arrest me will feel bad and let me go. Lol :( I'm still not sure that I will get arrested if I do go to get a ID. I have googled so many different ways asking the same question and there is no one that can 100% say they do or don't check for warrants. I have heard from two people that work for the DMV and both say two different things. Thank you again for your input.

You won't know until you do it. But if you show them proof that you were arrested 2x and FL failed to extradite each time, they will probably let you go.

I had not seen the follow up on probation violation, the real issue, even if they refused to take you one time, the next time you are in the system, the police are required to hold you, till Fl decides.

I will say on this, at least in Georgia, we could only hold you about 30 to 45 minute unless there were new charges, waiting for another state to verify if they wanted you held or not.

On the bright note, the DMV can not arrest, so they would just process your ID, and wait on police to come, if they did call.

It is doubtful for this, they will hold you. But again possible.

Even who is the supervisor, or what level probation makes a difference
