Fix water coming out of top of water heater by cold intake
My hot water heater is leaking at the top by the cold intake. The water is coming up from the tank. What would cause this and how can it be fixed? Do I need a new water heater?

    Thanks,
    Mike

Before you go to the expense of a new heater try this. Shut the water off and remove and replace the threaded fitting that goes in the cold side. Don't forget to use Teflon tape of the threads. Good luck, Tom

Agree with Tom. Generally speaking, Hot and Cold water stub outs are nipples that screw into the tank. Make sure they are tighten up and have sealant on threads. Also, if you have T&P valve on top of the tank, then it is also screwed into the top of the tank. Remove it, apply sealant on threads and reinstall. Turn water back ON and see if the leak stopped. Back to you. Milo
