I have two pending theft charges and I asked my lawyer for a motion of discovery but he will not get it for me. Why?

You have to be specific, what do you wish to discover. You have to ask for specific information. Also at what point is the case? And the other question what state are you located at. (if the US) in some states the disoovery is very liberal. But many states do not allow but very limited discovery. Unless you are familiar with it, it is not like TV where they provide all the evidence they have

The first question here is what are you trying to discover?

Federal criminal discovery is also very limited. The government is not, in general, required to show its cards.
