Hi, I had an medical abortion on 2nd may. I used misoprostol for it. It almost bleeds one and half week. After that a little bleeding and brownish dischrage continues at the interval of 4-6 days which start and stops several time. All sympotms of pregnancy were gone. After three weeks on 24 may I took home test and it was positive. My last menstrual date was 23 April. And on 24 may I was feeling little pain in my pelvic same as on my period... bleeding is also continue from 23 may and it is still going on... but the amount of bleeding is not so heavy... it soaks hardely one pad in a day. I'm confuse is it my period aur what?? I heard that after an abortion in next period bleeding will go heavily. I'm also confuse that termination is worked or not? I don't want to go for an ultrasound... plz suggest me something. I'm suffering from so much stress.

Did you have a follow-up visit with your doctor? It is likely that the positive pregnancy test is just left from having been pregnant. You might show a positive result for several weeks. Have you had sex since the abortion?

It is not uncommon to have some bleeding off and on for awhile after the abortion and the bleeding you have now may or may not be a period. It doesn't necessarily have to be heavier than your normal period. Usually it is about 4 weeks or a bit longer before a period returns.

Since it is not an extensive amount of bleeding, I would just wait and see over the next couple of weeks. If you still don't feel as though you have an actual period, or you continue the off and on bleeding, then check with your doctor.

Hi, first of al thnks a lot for your reply... I was so much upset and I don't want to share it with any of my relative. Your reply makes me feel better... no, I do nt hve follow up visit and yes I did sex but v used condom. My main problem is this bleeding... I just got irritated with it... after taking pills it had already bleed for one and half week and after that it start and stops only for one day . Why does it going so long again now??
