    In house water tank
Mom is on well-water system. I know nothing about it. Pump fills a tank for pressure/distribution throughout the home. The tank has sprung multiple pin-hole size leaks. They seem to be sealing themselves after some unknown length of time (guessing a week or two) have a new hole. Trying to find a replacement, but there's no i.d. on the tank. These pin-holes are all in the center of a tiny mound, or bump. Kind of resemble a bee-sting. Anyone have any ideas, prognosis? Any hint as to why the holes seal themselves? What, if any, is the danger level here? Please help if you can...

YOU need to replace it ASAP... those are rust lumps... because the tank is rusting out from the inside to the point of perforation. Its beyond repair and can fail in a rather large way at any time.

If you want any peace of mind you did the right thing and weren't wasting your money... after the old one is removed and the new one installed, and before they haul the old one off... hit those lumps hard with a hammer (don't do it until after its removed)... they will fall off and you will see a small hole through the tank at each of them.
