Hello I a Montgomery ward tmo 33929A riding mower it acts like there is no battery so I just purchased a new battery for it and it still is doing the same thing just sits there like there is no battery in it does anybody have any suggestions I would like to get it running soon so it will save my back from using a push mower thanks for any suggestions!

Do you have a multimeter and know how to use one? Might be a bad solenoid, bad starter motor, or a break in the wiring.

My first thought was maybe a solenoid yes I have and know how to use a multimeter but I do not know where to put the wires from the multimeter if I hook them both to the solenoid or one to the battery and one to the solenoid?

You are checking for voltage at a variety of points... the back probe goes to the chassis or the negative terminal of the battery... the red one you check for votage with. I'm guessing there is no click when you turn the key on to start. First make sure there is 12v at the other end of the battery cable on the solenoid... then there might be two smaller wires on the solenoid... one of those should show 12v when you turn the key to start... if you see it when you turn the key, and not have it when you don't. YOu have a bad solenoid. If you don't see it change... you have bad wiring or a switch.

THe other small solenoid wire might go to ground. Not all have two small wires. THe other big cable goes to the starter, if the solenoid doesn't click you shouldn't see power go to the starter.
