Could my dog be sensing a health problem with me?
Last week I had an "episode" where I thought I might have had a mild heart attack. My dog understandably freaked out a little bit at the time. Doc said I was OK. Now here I am two weeks later and all of a sudden, the last 2 days my dog has been exceptionally clingy and possessive of me. I've had him for over a year, he is almost 2 years old. I have a home office so am home all day, every day. No changes, no stress, life is normal. He is eating OK, playing, sleeping, nothing unusual that I can tell. There is no "logical" reason I can find for his change in behavior.

I didn't think much of it at first, but its to the point now that when I let him outside for a while, he stands outside my window & even lays down there on the sidewalk in sight of me. He will not leave my side! I am beginning to become concerned that maybe he is sensing a problem with me that I don't realize yet. Is it worth looking into? What else could it be? What would I say to my doctor "I'm sorry but my dog thinks I need a checkup?"

Positively get a check up. I am a firm believer in what you are indicating, but you don't have to tell your doctor about your dog. There are dogs though that can sense certain health problems.
