    Ticking noise
Hello guys. I have a 2000 ford econoline Chateau/xl van with the 4.6 motor. It has a 162000 miles. Its making a ticking noise. Nothing loud. I know what a knock sounds like and its nothing like that. I'm wondering if it's a lifter or a rocker arm or injectors? Can anyone help me out?

Start using Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30 Full Synthetic Engine Oil. I've seen it quickly eliminate engine ticking in a Ford F-150, which the dealer sold cheaply to a friend of mine. Due to the engine's tick, the dealer was going to sell the truck at auction. My friend now only uses full synthetic engine oil in his truck, SUV, tractor, and bulldozer. Shell claims Pennzoil Platinum will remove 66% of the sludge in an engine, after the first change. I believe it, since I've seen it solve ticking and sticking oil light problems numerous times.

Can I switch back to regular oil if that doesn't work?

Okay.I tried Pennzoil Platinum and I still hear the ticking noise. I drive the vehicle everyday to work and back. Put about 55 miles a day. Sounds like it's coming from the passenger side. Can anyone tell me how to check the lifters and rocker arms to see if there is a problem?
