    Boiler help
Hi my partner bled a radiator upstairs and the pressure went right down so we turned it off and I filled it up like I usually do but when we turned the boiler back on the pressure was ridiculously high. I have bled the radiators getting at least 4 (kitchen) bin fulls of water from them. Then we thought we may need to turn the stop tap off so we tried that and thankfully the pressure went right down as we kept bleeding them, I let it get into the safe mark on the pressure gauge then I turned the stop tap back on and its gone straight back to number 4? Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong

    Hi Connie

I don't think you are doing anything wrong. My guess is that the pressure reducing fill valve (PRV) has failed and is allowing water to exceed the normal pressure range and would just continue to fill the boiler until it causes the pressure relief valve to go off and flood the place, so good for you for paying attention and catching the problem before the place flooded!!

For now, set the pressure to the correct pressure and keep the "stop tap" shut off until the valve can be replaced. Monitor the pressure on a daily basis until the PRV is replaced.

    Back to you...

As long as the pressure remains in a zone of appropriate pressure you sure can use the boiler!

That's a no then as soon as I turn the stop tap back on it just goes straight back into the red. Ok I will leave it off and call someone out thanks so much :)
