I gave oral sex to my boyfriend? Will I get an STI?
I've recently performed oral sex on my boyfriend. The first couple of times I did it, we used a condom, but then I wanted to try it out without one. He was comfortable with the whole thing so it wasn't a problem. We've been together for over a year, we know each other very well now and our personal preferences. He's also my first sexual partner and I'm his, so he has no history of other partners. But is there still a chance I could get an STI?

Do you know how STIs are transmitted?

I don't know a lot to be honest. I'm willing to take advice.

If he has one, you would likely get it.

I am thinking that you might not be too old since you have little knowledge of this.

First mistake is taking anyone else's word that they haven't done it with anyone else... second mistake is assuming they can't have any disease.

Considiering the HPV infection rate for teens and young people is nearly 28%... thats a whole lot of people that weren't having sex with people that don't have any disease to be that close to 1 out of every 3 young people being infected.

YOU need to assume EVERY person is infected until its proven otherwise. Particualarly as a female. All his stuff is outside...most of yours is inside. HPV, known a genital warts can in many cases cause Cervical cancer. You can also have significant number of warts inside the vagina before you are even aware you were infected....its also possible a boy that doesn't have any visible to be carrying the virus and give it to you.

Ans as was said.....any sexual contact is all it takes to spread it.....and any other STD. Bariers reduce the risk....but they do not eleminate it. Because fingers can transport it as well.

STIs are transmitted sexually. If he was a virgin, he doesn't have an STI because he's never had sex. Same goes for you.

Now, how do you know he is being honest with you about being a virgin?

I think he's telling lies to you. At 20 you being the first... he's either recently arrived from some repressive third world country... or he's the worlds largest dork because he couldn't get another female to go near him before now.

Sorry for being blunt... I'm a guy... I know guys really well. A 20 year old female virgin is rare... but real 20 year old MALE virgins are almost unheard of.

I'm sorry if I created some misunderstanding. But I know for sure he's not lying to me. He's a very honest person and loves me very much. He would never ever want to hurt me in any way. I'm sorry if I can't offer you any obvious proof of that. But it's the truth and nothing can change that.

Hate to tell you... but guys will say anything, and tell any lie to get sex at that age. A few of them are really good liars. Everything they say or do is about getting laid. At least until the late 20's when they discover there are more important things in life.

You would be surprised how many "you are the first" a guy will have until nobody will believe it any longer.

    I'm a guy... I know these things.

If what you say is true, then he can't give you a STI.

I didn't see any harm in asking, that's all. The more you learn, the more you know.

We don't need proof. We aren't the ones having sex with him.

If you trust that he has told you the truth, then you shouldn't be too concerned. If you have any doubts, you should be.

However, the question arises, were you the first to have sexual contact of any type with him or has he had other sexual encounters that did not include intercourse?

Trust but verify. Can't hurt to keep yourself checked regularly no matter how much love and trust you have. Good intentions are no substitute for good habits.

As well, since you're proceeding to explore your sexual world, you might want to look into different birth controls. Decide on that now so that, in the heat of the moment, you don't make a mistake. Make sure you're on the same page when it comes to children and pregnancy. That should be a big concern of yours as well. Whenever you have sex, penis in vagina, you can be pregnant. What will happen if that occurs?

Just some thoughts to bounce around your head.
