    Water heater noises
My hot water heater makes noises after I complete my shower. I have tried to drain but nothing comes out. I am on a well and am thinking water heater is filled with sand. Is there any cure or do I need a new hot water heater?

    Hi 1RAVEN2

The problem here is that you are trying to DRAIN your heater instead of CLEARING/PURGING the water heater of sediment. Here, the difference between the two is that to clear the water heater of sediment you simply hook a hose up to the water heater drain and then open the drain and let water flow from the heater at full volume/pressure until the water runs good and clean. If you are on a well, I'm sure that you are correct and sand and other precipitates have formed and need to be cleared to allow the heater to function properly.

    Questions? Let me know, OK?

If it will not let water flow then you need to open some hot water and cold water taps and turn off the water from the well until it starts flowing. Turn off the power, too. If it still will not flow you can use a long screwdriver to push away some of the sand and get it started but water will go everywhere, or you can remove the valve temporarily. On a trailer you can drill a hole in the floor to let the water go through the floor outside. This may help:https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...ter_heater.pdf
