Extremely recalcitrant slip-joint nut on p-trap
Live in a single-wide motor home. Have a clog in the kitchen sink and so am attempting to remove the plastic p-trap to see if that is where the clog is. Removed the slip-joint nut [ henceforth SJN ] nearest the sink - piece of cake. But the other SJN just doesn't want to turn. I've used channel locks to try and turn it but, nada. ( I'm pretty well an amateur at this stuff, thus I'm a bit 'fraid of breaking this second plastic SJN. Secondarily, I live fifty miles from the nearest town, plus my '90 Dodge Ram 50 isn't functioning either, so it is difficult for me to get replacement parts) Any suggestions on how I can get this extremely recalcitrant thing off? Ps. In 99% of the videos I watching on YouTube, both SJNs turneded in the same direction, 'cept one, where the two SJNs turned in opposite directions; what is with that?

Thanks to anyone who can provide any help or understanding. / Christopher from Desert Center (yuk) California, population 125 on abusy day.

I love anything "recalcitrant"!! They all tighten to the right but if you are looking at them head on and one is up and one is down, it would look like they tighten differently. Hopefully someone didn't solvent seal the nut, which is usually not PVC but Polypropylene so it shouldn't cement. If you hold up a strong light to the trap, you should be able to see if there is a clog. Try to remove the "SNJ" by turning the other way. You could also remove the tailpiece nut at the sink strainer and remove it all in one piece.
