My sons 23 year old girlfriend is pregnant about 6 months she has never been to a doctor and she uses heroin every day. What are the chances the baby will live were do I take her. We are in Oregon

She needs to see a doctor as soon as possible. This is a global website, so we can't refer her to a specific doctor.

The baby will probably live if delivered at term, but will suffer from withdrawal due to the mother's addiction. Don't expect to take the baby home. Most likely social services will intervene and place the baby in foster care.

Oregon is a big state. Call your local hospital, ask for the obstetrics floor, and ask the nurses' station for the nearest help.

If the baby is born alive, he will be suffering from seizures and uncontrollable shaking from withdrawal. He will have many health problems, and may have some his whole life. Take her to a clinic as soon as possible, today, to get methadone.

Ooh myy gosh this woman has no respect for the baby and shouldn't be carrying one in the first place! (sorry, no offence to you) the baby has a chance of coming out deformed or possibly die before its even born or have learning difficulties or MAYBE being a healthy kid. This woman needs help NOW. You need to put your foot down and tell her to get off her and get to a doc and quit the herion or child services (again no offence to you) will give it a better life than a mother that don't take care of herself and the baby. Makes me angry when I'm a mother myself and you always got to put your babies first not drugs... :( good luck! :)

Please provide your sources. I've delivered about 1,500 babies, at least, and I've never seen one deformed because of heroin abuse.
