I want to install a 36x80 exterior pocket door in my garage, is it possible. Where can I find one.

It isn't all about finding one, they are normally used in the interior to save space, if enough wall space on each side to accommodate the hardware to support it. Any building contractor has them, if one can be adapted to the exterior.

Pocket doors have too many air gaps to be useful in any kind of rain, snow, wind and cold. But feel free to do what you want.
Most people just buy the track hardware (any HD or Lowe's - look online). A 3' door requires a 6' track of course. Install it on any door. They even come with a set of cups to fill the hole from the doorknobs.

If you mean a bypass door, that's different. Wouldn't put that on a garage either.

If anything, I might install a door with the swing outwards, if space is the result you want.

Had my bathroom renovated, wanted an pocket door to save space, very good contractor who saved us a lot of money, did an explempary job, suggested sorry, too much money.

Most people here in Ontario can buy the track hardware but a whole wall, on both sides, has to be torn apart. That appears to be very expensive.

I don't know, Joy, what do you mean 'install on any door' which I had thought would be possible with two very good side walls on each side of my bathroom door, but apparently, it is a LOT of work, and expense.

Not good for an exterior door due to difficulty sealing.

I mean there is no need to buy a special door. You can use any existing door, with the knob removed, and the lockset removed and replaced by the set that allows you to grab a hinged metal piece to pull the door out of the pocket.

Pocket doors are not worth the cost of installing in existing construction. New or when gutting a wall only.

I'm not sure what you mean by walls of both sides of the door? Pocket doors can be double, going right and left, but are often just one single door. If you mean there will be existing wall remaining on the rest of the wall, then the pocket side will be thicker, and again, not worth doing.

I didn't want the old door, ma, I wanted a new pocket door installed, but here the hardware for same is too expensive, and the wall had to be broken into, necessitating a lot of money in new drywall, etc. This isn't my thread, ma.

Who in their right mind would want to use the old existing door, joy ! If one is up dating, and having a pocket door installed, then it seems reasonable to buy a new door.

Now we are sort of off topic. This is man wants one for his garage, which isn't practical.

People 'in their right mind' use existing doors ALL THE TIME!
Old might mean desirable antique, or simply old and matching the other doors in the house. Old might mean just not new but in excellent condition.

As stated a lot of work.

Remove 7' of wall from floor to top plate. Install header with 2 jack studs each side. Install pocket. Then do all the finish work.
