    H1b r2i working as contractor - tax
    Hi
I was in United States until Aug 2012 and returned to India after my H1b expiration.
I continued working as contractor for the same company from India.
I was receiving payments to my US bank account.
I received 1099-MISC from the company for 2013.
What are tax liabilities for 2013, I was not in the US for the year 2013?
    Please let me know.
    Thanks,

Since you returned to India and lived and worked THERE in 2013, under the U.S.-India Tax Treaty, you must pay India the income tax on the income earned under the Form 1099-MISC.

You have NO U.S. income tax liability, but you probably will need to file Form 1040NR, Schedule C and Form 8833 to account for the Form 1099-MISC income and explain the treaty exemption.
