    Arbitrary credit checks
Can my landlord keep running credit checks on me without notifying me? Does that go on my credit score?

How do you know they are actually doing it?

Every time a credit check is run on you, it goes on your credit report and lowers your score a few points.

I am not sure about the legality of it all but when I run a credit check on someone, they have to sign an authorization that allows me to do it first. When I pull up the results, I will often see "too many inquires" which indicates that the person has had many credit checks done on them.

But as smoothy said...how do you know this is being done?

Generally when you apply for credit you give the creditor permission to do a credit check on you. Signing a rental lease is sort of applying for credit. But it is unusual to continually check it. How do you know they are? Have you spoken to them about it? Your rental application probably gave permission for one check not continual ones.
