My ex boyfriend and I were both filing for orders of protection against each other. I filed mind first and he was countering mine. We ended up making a deal and the paper I received said "stipulation for entry of no contact order" on the top. I'm not sure all the information on what that is but in wondering how I would have to go about dropping it.

A "stipulation" is an agreement between parties to a lawsuit. In this case, the two of you stipulated to the no-contact order. To "drop" it, the two of you might merely enter into another stipulation, and the court could approve it by issuing (signing) an order to that effect. Some courts can sometimes be reluctant to approve such stipulations, and will need to hear evidence that you are no longer a threat to each other.

How would I go about something like that if I can't contact him? Would I still file something with the courts?

What might be best since there is no contact at this time and I believe your stating that the orders are mutual. Just leave it alone until it becomes an issue that way you are protected until then.

Good point. Read the order, but generally the order should not prohibit either party from filing a motion with the court and, in so doing, sending a copy to the other party. So yes, file such a motion.

Establishing such a paper trail of make ups, break ups, reconciliations through the court can be used against you in any future dealing with each other, and is a useless way to keep contact going. Please give careful thoughts to amending or filings against the original orders of your court proceedings.

I mean do you really need the courts involved in this relationship? Do you really need a relationship with anyone that has to go through the courts? Finally any future court dealings will be tainted through the modifications of the original no contact order and totally abolish the protective nature of it.

You better get some legal advice to understand the consequences of filing these personal agreements that basically cancel the original court order.
