Cost to Change 100 amp fuse to 100 amp breaker or bigger.
What is the approximate cost and process to change a 100 amp fuse system to a 100 or more amp breaker system? I know that this obviously must be done by a professional. Does this involve changing meters along with the panel box? The current wiring is sufficient. Becket MA

If the existing wire is adequate, why change? Other than the obvious ability to flip the breaker, if, as you say, the wiring is adequate, you shouldn't be changing fuses. With a new install, you may be required to also change the meter box that contains an outside disconnect. Depending on your location and pay scales, prices vary considerably so get 3 bids from qualified Licensed electrical contractors. Meters are supplied by the local utility. If you want to go up in Amperage, you will possibly need to have a new service from the street and a new install from the meter to the panel. That could substantially increase costs as SER cable is expensive.
