Can my probation officer ban me from the town that my house is in?
I was convicted of a crime in my home some years back.I did 2 years in prison and managed to hang on to my house through the whole ordeal by paying taxes and such in advance before I went in to prison.when I got out I went back to my house to live.my probation officer old me to leave that town and never return.I lost my house because of this and ended up in a homeless shelter. There was nobody else but myself living there after I got out of prison.I never pursued this because I was whittled down to zero possessions and could not research it online.my question is this... did he have the authority to make such a brash decision without going to the judge? This was not in my release conditions at all. I live in Maine.Penobscot county.usa.

POs are given pretty wide control over matters like that. So I would suspect it was within his power. Why couldn't you have sold the house?
