What can I do if parental rights were terminated in a different state
I have a question about my husband's rights to see his child? So my husband and his ex wife had 3 children that were taken by the state in Kentucky now we all reside in Ohio and both my husband and his wife both had their rights taken away so two were adopted out to other families in Kentucky. The third was put in many different foster homes before given to my husbands ex wife's mom. So my question is is there anything that he can do to be in his sons life we are willing to do anything we tired to civilize with the ex wife but nothing had gotten accomplished with that. Thank you so much for your help Just a side note the his ex wife's divorce lawyer had stated to her that they were both done wrong with getting their rights taken. I just want to know what can we do if she has the right to be in his life why doesn't his father (my husband) we have not taken any actions as we do not know how to go about this situation.

If the rights and responsibilities were taken away by the courts. Then there are no legal ties to the child. There is nothing he can do as the child is treated the same as a stranger would be.

Then why does the mother get her rights? And not the father?

The first thing that needs to be done is check the court records and find out exactly what was done in court. If 2 of the children were adopted out, then it is probable that parental rights were terminated.

You said the child was given to your husband's ex mother in law. So what makes you think the mother has rights? The ex M-I-L is the parent and she can decide who can see the child. Your husband has no legal rights. You say he has talked to an attorney, so what did the attorney say about possible regaining some rights?

From what you wrote before the mother never had her rights reinstated. You made mention of the mother's mother being the one that gained custody of the child. Did I read that wrong ?
