Need to shut off the water main but can't find it. I do have a raised fondation.

There are 2 shutoffs. The first one is at the water meter and the other is inside the house, near the Pressure Relief Valve, possibly near the water heater. Look for the first valve shutoff after the place where the water enters the house. Depending on where you live, you may not be able to access the water meter without one of the utility employees present.

Bang on! Brian nailed it. Yo have a street shut off at the meter and another where the water enters your house. As a rule this will be in line with the water meter. Good luck, Tom
