Recently a pipe was fixed by cutting and splicing. A new leak occurred in a different area at a joint. Am I able to just resolder the joint using flux and solder? Or does this need to be redone by cutting? The leak is a slow drip right now. I think the seal was broken when moving the pipe around.

You could always drain the water, clean the joint real well, apply some flux and try to resolder the joint (can't hurt to try). If the soldering fails to take then you cut the pipe and couple parts back together and solder up all new!

Thank you Mark.This will be my first attempt to do this. Going to go to Home Depot tonight to pick up the supplies. I have watched my Father, Uncle and Brother do this so many times I think I should be able to do this one but not sure about being ready to splice and connect pipe at all. Maybe one day but not right now.Thanks again,Gail :)

When I have a pressure leak on a solder joint I drain the water out but also run my torch flame up and down the pipe until I;'m sure there's no moisture left. Even a little steam can leave a pinhole leak. Good luck, Tom

All of the above if it's clean! Put a wire fitting brush on a drill and clean it well. Dip your solder in flux as well as flux the joint while hot.
