    Truck computer reset
Work was done yesterday on my 2000 Toyota Tundra which required the battery be disconnected thus reseting the computer. The truck now runs like crap stalling out when coming to a stop. Calling the mechanic he stated that after disconnecting a computer on a vehicle it requires the truck to "re-teach" the computer which means driving 40 miles before it returns to a normal mode. I've never heard of this - am I being scammed ?

    Thanks.

I've heard of things like this, and no, it's not a scam. Basically the computer monitors things like fuel/air mixture, exhaust and such and tries to run best. This changes over time as the vehicle runs, and when the computer resets it goes back to default values. Now this should run fine, just not the best it could. You said it's stalling out at stop signs? That might be indicative of another problem.
You can always give it 40 or 50 miles and see what it does, if it gets better, good, if not, take it back.

*NOTE* I'm not much of a car guy but I have had a couple vehicles with this kind of setup.
