    What's the exact differnce between IP Address and Mac Address. Through which address the packets are interchanged

    The references that Curlyben pointed to are very good. However, the use of the word "packet" in the MAC Address link is incorrect. Packets are Layer 3 entities such as "IP packets". There is no such thing as an "Ethernet Packet" as the article suggests. They should have referred to "Ethernet Frames" instead. So your question about "packets" now should be clear. Packets are to Layer 3 (IP) as Frames are to Layer 2 (MAC).
