Is there a technique or technology that can locate the J box?
I was wondering if you might have a suggestion. Our townhomes have Aztec concealed ceiling heating system. I am the property manager here; and I am recommending to the Association that we discontinue use of this heating system. I like the radiant heat concept and I would like to be able to locate the current J boxes that I could then use to power a radiant heat system mounted to the ceiling. I want to be able to use the current thermostats and all the wiring from the panel up to the J box. Is there a technique or technology that can locate the J box without having to demo sheetrock looking for it in a haphazrd way? Thanks. Mike B.

J Boxes, by code, must be accessible and not sealed up permanently. In many cases, the main power comes to a ceiling box and lights are then switch looped with the heaters hot through the thermostat. I would start there.
