I want to know if it is appropriate to give offerings so that we get our needs fulfilled. e.g. if I pass this exam I will pay this much money to the mosque or I will recite yaseen 10 times if I pass this exam etc.

I feel it is is like a trade.

Sounds more like trying to bribe God. Study hard, pass the exam and then offer thanksgiving
