Woke up five hours after dishwasher was started and it was still running. Opened door, it shut off. Let door back up, made connection and it started again.

It sounds like you have a stuck motor relay or stuck timer. You will need a good digital multimeter to find the stuck part, but because it's a stuck part it will be an easy job to do. Look at the schematic diagrams supplied and follow the power from where it comes in to the motor and you will find the stuck relay very quickly. Take a set of jumper cables and jump out the door switch while testing. Turn off power and use the "ohms" function on the meter.
