    Income taxes
Why would my ex wife let me claim our child this year on my taxes. She claims she she doesn't work but has a 1099.
She states her tax guy told her she wouldn't benefit anything by claiming him so I'm allowed too.
I'm pretty sure she is receiving some sort of assistance.
I can't figure it out please help.

    Thanks

If you are one of the parents, the law allows you to claim your child if the custodial parents agrees to it, preferably in writing

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. She apparently figures if she can't get a benefit you might as well.

What Scott says is noteworthy. Most ex-spouses are not so generous.
