I haven't drank for 2 years had hair strand tested positive for face but negative for EtG and bloods. I don't know what to do. The report said I may be an excessive alcohol drinker but I'm not. I'm trying to get my daughter back. Can anyone please help me? I am distraught. Thank you

What do you want us to say, that you are not a drinker ? If you tested positive then you have been drinking. Come clean, join AA and stop alcohol abuse.

I meant FAEE not face. You obviously didn't read my question right. My results were negative for ETG and my bloods were negative but my FAEE were positive. So 2 test saying I'm not and 1 test saying I am. The fact is I Don't drink point blank. They say your FAEEs elevate with hair products which I no this is the case so I was hoping someone on here might have been in simler situation or some one that nows something about this as this is a help desk so if you want to reply to post I would no a bit about what you on about and not be a smart arse thanks. These hair strand test are not reliable they shouldn't be used in courts.Also I said the reports say Maybe excessive drinker. Not IS.

Part of the discrepancy is that blood and urine tests show alcohol usage for a very short period of time (usually measured in hours.) The FAEE is supposed to show longer term usage (up to about six months.) So the two tests can be 'clean' if the person has been extremely careful in the days prior to the testing. But the FAEE may still 'catch' their usage of alcohol products. I am not saying that you have consumed alcohol. Only explaining the difference in time period covered by the tests.

Since this appears to be a custody case, do you have a lawyer? If so, what have they recommended? Has retesting been suggested?

FAEE are very direct and specific alcohol markers which are metabolites of alcohol produced inn the body when alcohol is consumed. This test is so specific that it out-rules consumption of any medicine, OTC or otherwise that contains alcohol as a stabilizer. Or, plainly put, no pathological reason for the alcohol to be in the system.

Sorry you think my answer was smart , it was certainly not intended to be, but to all intents and purposes, according to FAEE you had alcohol in your system, so you failed the test.

It was hair strand test for 2 markers one was ETG the second was FAEE. The ETG was not detected but the FAEE was above cut of. The lab said FAEE can be elaveted with hair products which I use a lot of but I didn't declare them at sample collection as I was not told the inportance of declaring them. Yes I have a solisitor. For 2 years I haven't drank anything watsoever I have recently had a baby who lives with me and the local authoritys were I live have no concern as they have never been evidence of drink for 2 years and I have done everything I can to put my life right but the authoritys were I used to live have my daugter in care and she's really having a hard time in there getting moved from place to place and she really wants to come home and doesn't understand why I can have my baby living with me and she can't its.My solisitor said we will do all we can to challenge the results as there contidictory.If my daugter doesn't come home its residentle place. Everything was going great until these results.
