    Spot bleeding
I have had spot bleeding for more then a week, but my period is not due until Feb. 27th. I have never had spot bleeding between periods for this long before, so I am concerned. I took a pregnancy test, but it came out negative. What could be the reason? I am 45 years old.

At 45 years of age it could be that you're going through perimenopause. Spot bleeding during perimenopause is quite common.

Of course pregnancy is also possible. Sounds like you tested too soon. Wait until your period is at least 2 weeks late, then test with first morning urine. If that test is negative, wait for your next period. If you miss it, test again or get a blood test.

If this is a concern, see your doctor. There are many reasons women have breakthrough bleeding. It could be an infection, could be an injury, could be a cancer or another disease, etc. etc. There's just no way to diagnose online. It's really up to you, and your level of concern over this.

    Good luck.
