What if you don't replace carrier bearings
Have a 1999 Tahoe. Shop says need to replace carrier bearings. Have 109900 miles on it and may get rid of it. What will happen if we don't replace the carrier bearings?

You could lose control of your vehicle, and at high speed kill yourself or somebody else.

First, it will start making an awful noise and the car will start to shake. Second, it creates an extremely dangerous situation where, if the shaft separates in the middle but remains connected to the differential, the car can be catapulted end-over-end at high speed. These are the worst crashes imagineable.
