What is the statue of limiations on a presonal loan
I loan a young lady 500.00 for her attorney and she stated to me that she would return all monies once she had gotten paid. But to know avail have I seen any moneys for the past 3 going on 4 years can you tell me what my limitations are and if I am able to file at all or if I can bring any charges against this person at all, I'm in the state of Louisiana.

    Thank You,

First you can not bring charges, there is nothing criminal here. This is a civil matter. You will need to sue them in small claims court.

What proof of the loan do you have. What proof of amount given is there ?
Is the payment agreement in writing ?

Contact your nearest Small Claims court for a form (if you have proof that it was a loan). There will be a fee of about $50, depending on your state. You are awarded that amount if you win. Getting someone to pay even if you win can also be a problem. Some just ignore the judgment.

If in Ontario, they can't ignore the judgment; wages are garnished for the exact amount.

Louisiana appears to have an unusually long SOL; 10 years (Complete State List of Statute of Limitations on Debt). So you are well within that time frame. So the key will be whether you can prove you lent her the money. If you can sue her in small claims court.
