    Old debt
I bought a car and later couldn't make the payments on it. It was repoed. I was wondering how long a collections agency can go after you. I know its on your credit report for 7 years. It happened 4.5 years ago. After 7 years if I decide to buy a house could they go after it or is there a certain time length where they can't bother you.

    Thanks Dee

A debt never expires. The owner of that debt can continue to try and collect until the debt is paid. However, the Statute of Limitations can expire which then limits their ability to seek legal remedies for the debt. SOL laws vary by area. Any question on law needs to include your general locale as laws vary by area.
