    Advice needed
I had an abortion 3 weeks ago and about 6 days ago started itching and experiencing sore vagina, which has eased off a little. Me and my partner had sex last night and my vagina felt very tight and sore. Straight after sex my partner noticed a small rash on the head of his penis which calmed down a short time after. He said my vagina felt very hot whilst he was inside. I know we both don't have STDs but I am unsure what is wrong whether I have any other infection?

3 weeks later and you're having sex?

As mentioned in my post, yes! After being advised to wait 1-2 weeks.

You could have a yeast or bacterial infection from small cuts in the skin anywhere inside or outside. Sometimes the body can fight it off, but having sex when you knew you were sore just aggravated any infection. You can wait or you can get it diagnosed. I would get it diagnosed, and I would get him tested too. You can give infections to each other over and over, and men don't usually have symptoms.

Thank you for your reply, do you think it is worth buying over the counter treatment for this?

You can buy OTC products for yeast but not bacteria, which need antibiotics (some parts of the world have those in drugstores, others require a prescription).

It's not the best idea to treat yourself for yeast (Monistat is a popular brand) but people do. We don't know anything about your abortion, such as whether your uterus was nicked with the curette, how far along you were, how good the clinic was... This could be a mild infection that your body fights, or it might not. And take your temp!

If you can go back to the clinic, I would. And get birth control, and information about the 72 hour pill.

I am on birth control, which I have been taking straight after the abortion. My temp is normal. The pain is on the outer part of the vagina just near the opening. Thank you for your help I will speak to doctor.

The pill doesn't work the first month...

The organisation I went through provided birth control and every piece of literature doesn't state otherwise? Thanks anyway

Absolutely no OTC. Too serious to fool with. You are in the UK? Why worry about expense in getting prope medical attention.

And you didn't wait long enough before having sex!

I'm not worried about paying, I'm going to struggle seeing a doctor over the weekend that's why I suggested OTC. Maybe I didn't wait long enough in your opinion but upon advice I waited as I should as told by a medical practitioner. Everything had calmed down before I had sex. Thank you for your reply.
