What does it mean to have low platelets?
I had labs done to find that my platelets are 84, what does this mean?

This is something best discussed with your doctor.

Yes you should discuss with your doctor, but it is a general question. Low platelets means your blood does not clot easily leading to bleeding out.

Your doctor must discuss this with you leading to solutions.

Low platelates are found in many diseases ranging from dengue malaria to a simple infection anywhere in the body.

Low platelets, thrombocytopenia, is a drop in the clotting factors making it hard for your blood to form clots. A scab on a cut is a simple form of clot.

We don't have dengue or malaria in my part of the world, but this could also be caused by leukemia, immune system disorders, or even caused by certain medications.

Your particular diagnosis will have to be discussed with your medical practitioner.
