I was arrested for theft from an employe (under 5000 $) and my ex employer is going for jail time. The total of the theft was 162$ in cash and goods. Now I just came out of my first court appearance and spoke to duty counsel.I am going to work 30 community hours, provide transcripts from school (I have high grades) and write a letter of apology as well as pay my restitution. This is my first offense, I've never had so much as a detention in school. Should I get a lawyer? What are my chances of jail time? Does anyone have any advice?
