I am very in a tough situation. There is this girl who I have been texting almost all the time for the last week. We are both quite flirty in texts. However, today I saw her in school and she sat near me and I just couldn't pluck up the courage to talk to her, I was so nervous. Another time we walked past each other and said 'hi' I just really awkwardly moved on without saying anything else. She text me this evening in a flirty way saying 'hey!' how was your day... etc and I just couldn't bring myself to reply and engage in a conversation over text with her. I just feel so embarrassed (?) about the situation talking to her and I don't know what to do about it. How could she text me that literally less than two hours after sitting near each other in a library and not talking and then she in silence gets up and leaves... should I text her back, obviously I am not trying to ignore her... should I explain to her tomorrow about not replying?

Text her right now and tell her what a big scaredy cat you are in person. Then at least she can evaluate honestly whether she wants to deal with a big scaredy cat that can't backup his flirty texts.

How did you get her number to text her?

This seems very at odds with the person who was talking about 'getting involved' with a girl at a party while hoping another girl he likes and wants to see after she gets back from vaccation won't mind. That was in Dec.

What about this female has you tied up in knots?

I will talk to her. It is the same girl as the one in December who was on vacation. I chose her.

Talking in text is easy, no face to face, people get brave to say things they may not normally say in person.

She replied with "haha gay". At first I just thought it was funny we like to tease each other. But after a few hours it dawned on me and I felt sad that she kind of played it off and said nothing back. I can imagine she would have said it to her previous boyfriend and now I'm annoyed she said nothing back. Ever since I have been short in my texts to her, less kisses, no flirting. I now feel I don't want to show her affection and say sweet things because I just feel she doesn't deserve it and I would just be mocked. Anybody help with where to go from here?

Sorry to be so blunt dude... but how old are you anyway? And if you are this completely devoid of self esteme, courage and testosterone... perhaps its not time to be chasing females yet.

Unfortunately not, I'm 18 and I feel almost slightly depressed going through a tough period in life (as all young kids do these days). I guess this just got to me.

THants for responding to that in the way you did... It was meant to get you thinking. I see it did.

First point (as all young kids do these days)... while everyone your age tends to believe this... its been that way since the dawn of civilization. We ALL go through tough periods of life... in fact it doesn't end after the teenage years.

First thing you have to learn... is stop overthinking everything. There isn't hidden meaning to everything... this is after all, not international diplomacy.

Take things at face value... there is rarely hidden motivations behind texts, in fact there is rarely much thought at all behind them.

SHe has a life as you do. Its really as simple as that. Enjoy what you have...while it lasts. Odds are its not going to and you will have a number of others that are far better in the future.

If everything else seems to be going well between you two, then you may be putting too much thought into nothing here. Is she fine otherwise?

Also...perhaps after 2 months, your mushy words were just a bit too much. I have no idea what you said but maybe you over-did it and she just didn't know how to react.

It's up to you how big a deal you make of this, or how you let your feelings get the best of you.

Also is letting your feelings get the better of you definitely a bad thing? Should I be happy that she is not really affectionate?

If you were too mushy, she might have thought it was too much too soon and didn't know how to handle it. The fact that you are asking about that tells me that you may have laid it on a little too thick and that is why you got that response from her. Just let it go and stop over-thinking it now.
