My 2007 Honda civic has been garaged for 5 years. I took it out to run it and drove it 200 yards. The odometer jumped 2.4 miles. I tried it again and it did it again, I traveled 400 yards and the odometer registered 5 miles. The speed odometer, the temp gage, gas gage, and the tachometer every 20-30 seconds jump up all the way for about 3 seconds and then resume normal readings, what's wrong?

Check/clean connections going to the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). If the problem persists, the IPC may need replacing.

The odometer works with the transmission. It seems that the unit that measures the rotations of the transmission has broken. You should get this unit fixed immediately. Hope my reply helps you.
